Welcome to our wonderful school.
Bacchus Marsh Primary School No 28, is Victoria's oldest ‘still operating’ State School and has a proud and wonderful history of providing quality education to the township of Bacchus Marsh and surrounding districts.
We have always been an important part of the Bacchus Marsh community and continue to be a school central to community needs through the learning and living of our values - Respect, Kindness, Learning, Teamwork and Integrity. Our motto, ‘Consider Others’ is walked and talked on a daily basis and we pride ourselves on the development of strong relationships, exemplary care, and a stimulating environment for all students, staff and families at our school.
We are a Positive Education school ensuring the ‘Wellbeing’ and mental health of our whole school community is at the centre.
“Positive Psychology is founded on the belief that people want to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives, to cultivate what is best within themselves, and to enhance their experiences of love, work, and play.” Martin Seligman
See our Wellbeing page to explore more about our focus on Wellbeing and our explicit teaching of Character Strengths.
We are a ‘committed village’ of skilled professionals, constantly learning, and working extremely hard to model ‘Inclusive Education Practices’ that give students of all backgrounds the opportunity to learn and grow side by side, to the mutual benefit of all.
We lead by example and passionately encourage every person engaged in our school community to take on the responsibility of understanding the important role they play individually and collectively. We want our community to partner with us to ensure the learning, wellbeing and safety of our children and young people is supported without judgement.
We aspire to maintain a learning culture enhanced by choice and opportunity, balanced out through strong relationships and the right amount of challenge and support. Our broad, inclusive curriculum is comprised of Literacy, Numeracy, Physical Education, Visual Arts, Music, Chinese, Science, Kitchen/Garden and the incorporation of Digital Technologies.
We want our students to leave BMPS as critical, creative, problem solving thinkers, whose primary school experience has been enhanced by Inquiry based learning and best practice Literacy and Numeracy instruction.
We hope further exploration of our website supports a deeper understanding of our learning environment, and welcome visitors by appointment, encouraging you to come and ‘feel’ what we can’t put into words - the special something that makes BMPS the school that we are so proud of.
